how it all began

Created by Klabin in the 1980s, the Klabin Ecological Park promotes the conservation of biodiversity, the maintenance and rehabilitation of wild animals, and the preservation of species, including 13 that are at risk at a State level. It also focuses on environmental education and scientific research into local fauna and flora.
In the 1990s, the "Klabin Wild Animal Scientific Breeding Ground" was officially registered with the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the park began captive breeding of endangered species to repopulate Klabin's native forests.
Covering 9,852 hectares, 91.6% of them native forest areas, we have approximately 180 animals from 50 different species. These species are distributed in enclosures that reproduce the natural habitat for each animal to ensure their protection and quality of life.
The space also has impatient wards, a veterinary clinic, a kitchen to prepare animal feed, an administrative office, accommodation for researchers, an Ecological Trail in the middle of the native forest, and a Nature Interpretation Centre.
