MAIN FEATURES
A dark-colored owl featuring two tufts of feathers on top of its head that look like ears. When alert, they are erect, and when relaxed, they remain low. Short, white eyebrow and small light feathers between the eyes.

DIET
They feed on birds, insects, and small mammals, such as rodents and bats.REPRODUCTION
During the reproductive period, the male and female vocalize close to the nest. They build nests in tree cavities, directly on the ground or use other birds' nests. The female usually lays two to three white eggs, and the chicks are fed by both parents.BEHAVIOR
● They live in open forests, such as pine forests, and the cerrado (Brazilian savannah).
● They are nocturnal. During the day they hide in treetops.
● They are territorial and the male defends his territory by singing in the treetops.
