The Jaguarundi is a rare cat. They are shy, reclusive and very timid and not much is known about them.

MAIN FEATURES

The have long, thin bodies and short legs. Their heads are small and flat, and their ears are small and rounded. With a very long tail, their colors range from black, through dark brown, and reddish tones.

DIET
The eat practically any small animal they can capture, preferring rodents, small reptiles, and birds. There are records of them catching larger prey, such as rabbits and skunks. Like many other felines, their diet also includes a small amount of vegetation, insects and spiders.
REPRODUCTION
The breeding period occurs throughout the year. The female is in heat for up to five days and, when the pregnancy occurs in 72 to 75 days, the litters average two kittens.
BEHAVIOR

● Active mainly in the daytime and, although it feels comfortable in trees, they prefer to hunt on the ground.
● They live near rivers or lakes, also being found in dry places with open vegetation.
● They are usually solitary.

TRIVIA

They make a very wide variety of sounds, from purring, through whistles, vibrating sounds and even bird song, used to capture prey.
