Terrestrial bird that inhabits the Atlantic Forest in Brazil at all altitudes. It occurs from Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul. Its scientific name means hidden tail.

MAIN FEATURES

A shy, rarely-seen bird. It is found in dense vegetation and undergrowth. It has grayish-brown feathers and females tend to have a more reddish coloration than males.

REPRODUCTION
From August to December. Its nest is built on the ground and covered by dry leaves. The female lays 2 to 3 eggs, and the male incubates and raises the chicks.

● Scours the ground, stirring up leaves, pecking at prey.

TRIVIA

It has strong and growing vocalization. Its eggs are pinkish-purple in color.
