It has two prominent circles on its face, in a heart-like shape that helps it hear. This is a unique structure, which separates it from the other owls in a special family.

It is not an endangered species and adapts very well in natural and urban environments.

DIET
They are big rat hunters. They also catch bats, small marsupials, amphibians, reptiles and birds.
REPRODUCTION
The female lays four to seven eggs and the incubation lasts about 32 days. Although in 50 days the chicks are able to fly, they do not leave their parents until the three months old.
BEHAVIOR

Can locate their prey in almost total darkness, mainly with keen hearing.

TRIVIA

The common barn-owl is well known for building nests in church towers. So, it is also called a tower owl, church owl, and bell owl.
